Is Death Note author Tsugumi Ohba a boy or a girl?

There's been much debate about this. Ohba-sensei always seems to draw them self as a boy (who is slightly feminine), but Tsugumi is a female Japanese name. People also are constantly on sites saying that Ohba-sensei is a girl/boy etc... Everyone assumes males because of he nature of Death Note, but I really don't know. Can anyone help?
