My Toddler Pokes Her Eye's to Fall asleep?
My 18 month Daughter Started Off Poking & Pulling on her Belly Button While she sucked on her thumb. After I sort of handled that situation by keeping her in Onsies and Covering her bellybutton with a Big Squared Bandage.
She moved on to Poking and Pulling on her eye lids to go to sleep. She pushes her Eye in with her fingers, Pulls on her eyelids or takes1 finger and has it disapear inside her braw bone and her eye....If i try to stop her while she's going to sleep she has a crazy screaming fit with me! I was thinking of buying some goggles to have her put on before she goes to sleep.
I wanted to know if any one has had this happen to them. ?
I know sucking her thum is something she might do for comfort as i did when i was a child..and even up to my late teens. and sometimes till this day i find my self with my thumb in my mouth with out noticing!
But i can't compare her pulling on her belly button and practically gouging her eye out to a security Blanket or a teddy bear.She seems to be trying to comfort herself, even though in a manner not seemingly comforting to us. Maybe she needs a more soothing routine before bed. Try laying next to her, stroking her hair for comfort or something like that, maybe as you read one book, as she falls asleep. I am not one for kids being in your bed or vice versa, but she seems she may injure herself without meaning to. Have you talked to your doctor or pediatrician for suggestions? My oldest son, now 19, used to tug and twist and twirl his own hair as he fell asleep and outgrew it.
